Paula Gorbanova is an award-winning violinist based in London. She regularly performs as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral leader across the UK, Europe, and beyond at venues including the Carnegie Hall, Berlin Konzerthaus, Royal Festival Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Cadogan Hall, the Barbican, St James’ Piccadilly, Southwark Cathedral and St Martin-in-the-Fields. She has performed under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, Vassily Sinaisky, Marin Alsop and Baldur Brönnimann. In 2024 she won the Ivan Sutton Chamber Music Prize and the ULSA Sonderpreis at the Queen Sophie-Charlotte International Violin Competition in 2022. She has been invited to perform at festivals across Europe and the UK such as the Vielklang Festival (Germany), Artematica Festival, Uppermill Music Festival and the Cambridge Summer Music Festival, and has participated in masterclasses with Pierre Amoyal, Nicola Benedetti, Tasmin Little, Friedemann Eichhorn, Tobias Granmo, and Wolfgang Redik.
As an educator and advocate for musical outreach, Paula often gives workshops and masterclasses for students in UK, Latvia and France. She is currently Head of Strings at Wetherby Senior School, a violin teacher at the Guildhall Young Artists, and a founder of her own music academy. Her students regularly performs with orchestras, including solo appearances, and have won competitions, music scholarships and been admitted to leading institutions including the Purcell School, St Paul’s Girls’ School, North London Collegiate School, Dulwich College, James Allen’s Girls’ School, King’s College Wimbledon, and Wells Cathedral School, reflecting her commitment to inspiring and mentoring the next generation of musicians.
